I'm Syed Mustafa, 23 — a Video Editor, Researcher & Creative Manager based in Lahore, Pakistan. Born and raised in Kuwait, currently working at the International Open University (IOU) by Dr. Bilal Philips, producing content across both IOU English and IOU Urdu — and directly alongside Dr. Bilal Philips on his personal content.
I joined IOU in 2022 and have been working there for over 3 years. I've developed a deep understanding of Islamic educational institutions from the inside out. IOU is a global Islamic online university serving 30,000+ enrolled students across 100+ countries, with 200+ staff in 35 countries and 2,500+ exam centres in 146 countries. I've developed visual content direction for social media, working closely with the marketing team to shift from promotional to educational content. I conduct research to ensure every piece of content is accurate, well-sourced, and impactful.
I'm comfortable working across cultures and different time zones, managing people from all over the world. I don't just make things look good — I think about the message, the audience, and the outcome. Whether it's a 30-second reel or a long-form educational piece, or one post that can impact thousands, I approach every project with the same intention: make it matter.
Each sector teaches something different. Banks need trust. Hospitals need clarity. Universities need heritage. Startups need momentum. The principles are the same: find the truth, make it visible, and ensure it resonates.
Before IOU, I worked at Mindbridge for 2+ years in telesales — where I led a 12-person team, built training materials that increased productivity and pushed sales up by 40%. Most people know how to execute but can't lead... That's where I come in.
My creative process is grounded in four pillars. Art Direction — making intentional choices about how something looks and being able to articulate why. Team Leadership — knowing when to step in, when to trust the team, and how to keep everyone aligned. Project Strategy — working backwards from the outcome, managing timelines so nothing slips. Quality Assurance — holding the standard at every stage, because the final review matters as much as the first idea. These aren't separate skills; they're how consistent creative work actually gets made.
